Quite exceptional...

Dear David and Helen

I have been reflecting on why the concert last night was so successful other than the wonderful singing.

The clue, to my mind, lies in your programme notes “this is about as wide ranging 'a set' as you will get".

David and I had discussed at some length the kind of programme  that would be suitable for the St Mary Magdalene audience. Even though it presented challenges, you wanted to sing what the audience wanted to hear - and how they loved it.

Many members of the audience told me how moved they were by "Song for Athene", not only the performance but in the way in which the performance was presented.

The other highlight was the programme notes. Quite exceptional in their depth and relevance to St. Mary Magdalene.

Which leads me on to say how grateful we are that you chose to sing in our lovely church and we raised a magnificent sum with more to come from donations.

Thank you, thank you, to you and all the Ventiquattros and please will you return.

With very best wishes from all of us at St Mary Magdalene
